I'm really not sure where June went, but here we are, staring July in the face. In other news, I finally graduated 5th grade (it only took three years), and have moved up to 6th & 7th grade Literature. While I am already aching for my team of besties from the past few years, I am excited to be stepping into something new and feeling out Middle School. Thankfully for me, I teach at a pre-K-8th grade school, so all my work wives are just right downstairs! Now that I am fully departmentalized and only teaching the one content area, I am really wanting to update and tailor my room to make the most out of the classroom space. One of the things I am most wanting to do is a reading nook in the corner. I don't plan on spending a ton of time doing read-alouds with my students, but when I do spend some extra time in a text or am listening to them do Socratic discussions, I would love somewhere cozy to sit. I also like the idea of bringing in the "local coffee shop" kind of vibe to my room and making it comfortable and lounge-y (is lounge-y a word?). I have rounded up five items that I think would be great for making a reading nook the most coveted corner of my Literature Lounge. 1. Urban Grey Accent Chair $128 American Furniture Warehouse
A cozy and stylish place to relax and observe as students express their thoughts on classic literature. 2. Ivory Shag Rug $140 American Furniture Warehouse Anyone else often teach barefoot? I'm not gonna lie, when I'm wearing flats of any kind, they usually end up under my desk and I teach barefooted like a hippy. This rug would be so wonderful to squish your feet into after those long days. 3. Faux Fur Throw Blanket $25 Amazon I am always cold. Always. A girl needs a fuzzy blanket. End of story. 4. Wool Pouf $48 American Furniture Warehouse Kick those feet up on this chic and cozy pouf that would not take up too much room in the corner of a room. 5. Marble Tables $39 American Furniture Warehouse We have to have a place to put our caffeine and our books, right? Might as well keep that coffee tumbler on these fun and modern nesting side tables. Follow the links above to shop any of these items! Comment with photos of your own reading area if you have one!
